Ant Man and The Wasp Trailer: Who is Ghost?
The trailer for Marvel's next installment in the Ant Man series, Ant Man and The Wasp, just dropped a few days ago and the first thing you'll notice when you watch it is how awesome, Hope Van Dyne, played by Evangeline Lilly, is as The Wasp. Personally, I've been anxious to see what she can do with a power suit on, and the trailer didn't disappoint. She looked cooler than Ant Man in this trailer, which is to be expected since she spent most of her life training to use the Ant Man/Wasp suit. The trailer put all of her abillities on display and gave us a taste of just how great The Wasp will be in the movie. The Wasp will have wings and blasters, much like in comics, but it appears that she will be more than just Ant Man's sidekick, considering her abilities in the suit far surpass the clunky uncoordinated performance that we last saw from Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, in the first movie. The next thing you'll notice from the trailer is that it will be much like the first movie, in that it will be extremely fun too watch. Just the nature of the protagonist's power, alone, gives way for a ton of sight gags, jokes, and corny puns, not to mention we still get to the experience the comedic delivery of Paul Rudd. Based on the trailer, it looks like the next Ant Man movie will be even better than the last.
But, who is the villain? The ANTagonist in Ant Man and The Wasp, is going to be Ghost, played by Hannah John-Kamen. Ghost is unlike any other villain in the MCU, thus far, where her main goal is not to take over the world or the nine realms, but rather to cause chaos and trouble for Marvel's top business tycoons, like Tony Stark. Ghost is an extremely skilled hacker with a super suit that gives her super human strength, the ability to be invisible, and intangibility (invisibility and intangibility do not work at the same time). For the most part, Ghost chooses her own targets, but there are times where she is hired to commit corporate espionage. Ghost is normally a foe for Tony Stark, because he's the biggest corporate tycoon in the MCU, but for some reason now she's going after Ant Man. The events of this movie will have taken place after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, where, I'm guessing, a lot of things go back to normal and the government is still upset with the heroes that didn't sign the Sokovia Accords. The trailer showed the FBI antagonizing Scott Lang and putting what appears to be a tracker on his ankle. We also see that, since the events of Captain America: Civil War, Hank Pym and Hope Van Dyne have been "on the run," literally moving their business from place to place like a piece of luggage. Because of this, I believe that Ghost has been hired by the government to find Hank Pym and steal his technology, which is kind of like corporate espionage, so it fits Ghost's m.o. As a villain, I feel as though Ghost is a perfect addition to the hyper-technological world that the MCU has been developing and will add a certain level of gravity to the inherent silliness of Paul Rudd as a superhero.
What do y'all think they have in store for Ghost?
