Dragon Ball Super Episode 52 Review/Episode 53 Preview
Review
Episode 52 of 'Dragon Ball Super' reunited Future Trunks and Gohan, his once friend and teacher, but Gohan is nothing like what he remembers from his future, or even from the past he originally visited. Gohan followed his dream and has become a scholar, a husband, and a father, and has stopped training and fighting with the other Z-Fighters. When Trunks first sees Gohan, he notices that he cannot sense the brimming power that Gohan had possessed during his fight with Cell, and you can tell that he feels somewhat uncomfortable around him, because it's almost like he's meeting someone completely new. Gohan is neither the stern, hardened master nor the young martial arts prodigy that Trunks had once known, he is someone that Trunks can no longer recognize. Gohan, now that he is a scholar and a family man, is happy and relatively care free, which is something he has never seen from Gohan. They've always been in danger or fighting some serious threat, so there was never a time for either of them to be care free (excluding those few filler episodes during the Cell Saga where Gohan and Goku were literally care free walking around as Super Saiyans). Trunks even remarks, while Gohan is holding his daughter Pan, smiling, that he never knew he Gohan could make that expression or be that happy. Trunks would also meet Mr. Satan, Videl, and Pan, who ended up, all be it in a cute way, terrorizing Trunks when she was left a lone with him. While Trunks is with Gohan and his family, he couldn't help but feel guilty, because he felt as though he should be doing something, anything to save the world to save the world, but it was while he was watching Gohan play with Pan, when he thought about how his future would have been had Black not ruined it (flash forward to a happy family dinner with Bulma, Mai, and Trunks), that he realized that he was fighting to have the same feeling of happiness. By the end of his stay with Gohan and his family, Trunks was happy. One thing that I found was that Gohan, no matter what version is present, is always able to comfort Trunks. While he was in Gohan's home, he never even mentioned the future, where as when he's alone he can't help but see visions of his destroyed future. Gohan and Trunks have a special bond, and while they were together it almost seems as though the world around them stops and Gohan's happiness and care free nature start to permeate Trunks and relax him.
We also get to see the present Trunks get jealous of his older self, because Mai starts to crush on him, so throughout the episode he tries to impress her by trying to help her find a piece of equipment that Bulma needs, bringing her extra food, and even attempting to emulate his older self, by posing and strapping a saw to his back to resemble a sword, like the one that Future Trunks has. None of it works. Mai in the end still crushes on Future Trunks. This episode also continues to affirm my belief that Vegeta is the best character in the series. In the one scene that we see Vegeta, he is training and in the gravity chamber at the Capsule Corp Labs, and we can see that thinking about Black and how he killed Bulma and ruined his family in the future. He becomes so engulfed in that he releases all of his ki all at once, and yells "I will never forgive you!" Vegeta is the most interesting and intense character in the series. Just the thought of someone hurting his family sends him into a fiery rage, which I feel is so easy for all of us to relate to. We all want to be Goku, but most of are more likely Vegeta.

At the end of episode 52 we learn that Goku, Beerus, and Whis are traveling to Universe 10 because they have found someone with the same ki as Black. In the after credits preview we see that the person they are referring to is a Kaioshin-elect who is also a marital arts prodigy, named Zamasu. He also just so happens to be the Kaioshin character teased in the intro and credits of the show. The next episode is also called: "Expose Black's True Identity; Head to Universe 10's Kaioshin Realm." Welp... this debunks the idea that half of Black is a Makaisohin, or does it? Zamasu could still very well become a Makaioshin, he already has the calm, quiet demeanor of a super villain, and plus we already know he's the evil half of Black. Now we just need to see how he obtains the emerald Potara earring, because in the post-credit preview he does not have it. My prediction is that he is going to learn about his future, steal a time ring from the other Kaioshin and go to the future and help his future self. If you think about it, it makes perfect sense, sorta. If the inter dimensional tournament has taught us anything, it's that being from a different dimension doesn't mean anything, Frieza was evil in Dimension 6 and he was evil in Dimension 7, so I have to assume that Zamasu will be evil also, even if he hasn't shown it yet.
